A Note from the Chairman - February 8, 2026

To our wonderful Daufuskie Island family and friends,

On behalf of the Haig Point Foundation, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for making 2025 an outstanding, record-breaking year. Because of your extraordinary generosity, we raised a historic $236,000 to support the island we all call home.

Your Donations at Work Between our signature Golf Tournament and the Bi-annual Fall Auction, we raised over $203,000. Our Barn Owl Box campaign and general donations contributed an additional $33,000.

We know you trust us with your hard-earned contributions, and we take our role as stewards of those funds seriously. By keeping our operations lean, we’ve achieved industry-leading expense ratios:

Fundraising Expenses: Only 14% of revenue (well below the 35% nonprofit benchmark).

Operational Costs: Just 3.5% of revenue.

Direct Impact: $183,000 Distributed This year, we awarded 24 separate grants and scholarships across our four core pillars.  Key Grants are listed below, but a full list is located on our Website: https://www.haigpointfoundation.org

Disaster Preparedness & Safety: Funded a Mobile Command Center and new training equipment for the DI Fire Department.

Community Enhancements: Established the new Melrose mail/package facility and assisted DITMA in exploring alternative ferry options.

Assisting Island Non-Profits: Supported the DI Farm (wood chipping equipment) and Volunteers in Medicine (VIM).

Education & Scholarships: Awarded $19,000 in scholarships to residents and employees, plus support for our local schools and PTO.

Looking Ahead to 2026: Healthcare on Daufuskie On of our focus areas for the coming year is bringing consistent healthcare to the island. Beyond our work with VIM, we are currently assisting in the development of a full-service care clinic for all —saving residents a journey off-island for medical visits.   You should hear more about that in the upcoming months.

We are finalizing our 2025 financial audit, and we have posted our year end financial statement on our Website:  www.haigpointfoundation.org/financials

Thank you for being the heart of this foundation.
